Residents of more than 25 properties in the Giru/Woodstock area can rest a little easier tonight, following the successful completion of emergency re-supply missions today.

Burdekin Shire Council Mayor and Local Disaster Management Group Chair Lyn McLaughlin said two re-supply missions were completed, delivering much needed food and essential medications.

“Breaks in the weather today provided two opportunities for the Burdekin LDMG to re-supply the isolated properties,” she said.

“Working in partnership with local retail outlets, the LDMG has provided isolated residents with a range of basic foodstuffs, dried pet food, water and essential medications.”

Further re-supply missions are scheduled for Monday morning, weather permitting.
