Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is seeking applications for three vacant positions on the Jondaryan Woolshed Board.
Jondaryan Woolshed Board chair Cr Mike Williams said the new Board appointees would contribute to the ongoing strategic planning for the heritage-listed facility.
“This is a unique opportunity for people to lodge an application outlining their skills and relevant experience in similar operations or in broader business fields,” Cr Williams said.
“I’m sure there are people with a passion for the Toowoomba Region’s history, particularly the storied heritage of the Jondaryan Woolshed, who wish to contribute to its future prosperity.
“As the owner of the facility, Council’s duty of care is to represent the interests of the ratepayers who primarily fund the operation of the historical tourist attraction.
“One of the Board’s main tasks is to guide the immediate future direction and development of the Jondaryan Woolshed facility, which is the largest and oldest operating woolshed of its kind in the southern hemisphere, for future generations to visit.
“It is a fabulous working museum which brings the stories and daily working tasks of our pioneers to life for visitors, many of whom have little direct connection to life on the land today.
“The Board appointments are voluntary positions that would require successful candidates to attend monthly meetings. The timing of meetings will be reviewed in the future.
“Applicants are invited to submit an expression of interest (EOI) outlining their skills, associations and specific interests, such as heritage crafts, machinery, specific trade qualifications or skills.”
Written applications may be lodged by the end of February. Submissions can be delivered to all TRC service centres, posted to Toowoomba Regional Council, PO Box 3021, Toowoomba, 4350.
Submissions can be emailed to [email protected]
