The City of Ballarat has had support systems in place for several years to support employees of companies facing major difficulties.
These supports will be activated if needed to aid the employees of Forest Lodge.
The City of Ballarat has worked hard over a number of years to build its horse racing industry, which is not confined just to thoroughbred racing but also includes an extensive harness racing sector.
Horse racing is now a significant and growing contributor to the Ballarat economy, producing $60 million annually, with this particular organisation a major contributor to this figure.
We are aware that any potential job losses from this organisation would have a significant community impact and we are prepared to implement these supports if and when needed.
The City of Ballarat remains in contact with Regional Development Victoria, Racing Victoria and other state government representatives, and the Ballarat Turf Club to keep a close watch on the issue.
