Council wishes to advise its recycling waste contractor will resume normal services for yellow bin collection on Wednesday 6 February. Council previously advised that recycling collection was on hold due to the Bruce Highway closure and the recycling waste contractor’s inability to return to the Townsville depot for processing.
In addition, general and green waste collection will recommence as per usual timetable, where accessible.
For Friday 8 February, bin collections are planned for the Horseshoe Lagoon area, Woodstock area and Giru township. Green, red and yellow bins can all be put out. Due to current circumstances, the one waste truck will collect all three bins.
Home Hill rural areas are also scheduled for collection on Friday, subject to weather conditions.
For any missed services, please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre on (07) 4783 9800.
Further advice will follow for areas not yet serviced due to road closures such as Alva Beach, Rita Island, Groper Creek, Jerona and Wunjunga when flooding and access details become clear.
Resident are also advised that the Kirknie Road Landfill is closed until further notice.
