Unlikely seniors exhibit challenging behaviours

A digital exhibition challenging preconceptions about ageing will go on display at Armidale Regional War Memorial Library and the LT Starr Memorial Library Guyra from 13-24 February.

The Art of Ageing exhibition, a NSW Government initiative, celebrates the experiences of older people in regional areas across the State, to create more positive perceptions about ageing and older people in our communities.

A learner driver, a gymnast and ukulele player are among the extraordinary seniors featured in the exhibition, which comprises the work of five photographers from Wagga Wagga, Taree, Molong, Mudgee and Goulburn.

The NSW Government commissioned this exhibition to promote inclusive communities for all generations.

Its display at the Guyra and Armidale libraries will coincide with the 2019 NSW Seniors Festival.

A physical version of the exhibition is on an extended tour across NSW.

The NSW Seniors Festival and healthy ageing will also be celebrated with Council-supported morning teas in Armidale and Guyra.

A 2019 Seniors Week Awards ceremony at Armidale City Bowling Club on Wednesday 13 February from 10am will feature morning tea and entertainment by Massiel, Peter & Friends.

Guyra Bowling Club will host an entertainment day on the same day at 10.30am to 2pm, including morning tea and entertainment by Peter Denovan and the Guyra Preschool and Long Day Care Centre.
