Due to rising floodwaters within the Giru township, the Giru Recovery Hub scheduled for today Wednesday 6 February has been closed.

Burdekin Local Disaster Recovery Committee Chair Cr John Woods said the hub was open between 10am and 11am, but had to be closed due to rising Haughton River levels and subsequent impact on access roads.

“More than 20 people attended this morning. Everyone who attended today was registered and received information,” Cr Woods said.

“The Giru Recovery Hub will be rescheduled once accessibility into the township has improved.”
