Guyra residents and businesses are urged to minimise their use of town water while Council staff undertake urgent repairs to a major water pipeline.

Council officers are making urgent repairs to the main pipeline to transfer water between the Guyra Water Treatment Plant and the town’s water supply reservoir, after Council was alerted to the major mains leak this afternoon.

“Staff have responded immediately to the leak. However, until repairs are completed and water flows to the reservoir are restored, it’s important water in the reservoir is available for essential needs,” Armidale Regional Council Mayor Simon Murray said.

“For this reason, we’re asking residents and businesses to only use water for essential purposes, and not to do any outside watering, until we confirm supplies from the treatment plant are restored.”
