Good news for the 7000 drivers who travel daily through the intersection of Garden Street and Hillvue Road with State Member for Tamworth, Kevin Anderson, announcing $610,000 in funding for a new roundabout.
Tamworth Region Mayor Col Murray said State Government funding was sought because it had been identified as an accident hotspot.
"There have been nine accidents at the intersection in a five-year period with seven of those resulting in injuries to drivers or their passengers," he said.
"This money under the Saving Lives on Country Roads program will allow the safety improvements to be completed without using any Council funding."
Mr Anderson said he is always looking for ways to improve road safety across the Region.
Design work for the new roundabout will start in March and construction will be scheduled for the new financial year.
