MAJOR PUBLIC ARTWORK ANNOUNCEMENT!
Council has been working with the family of the late David Unaipon on a sculpture commemorating his life’s work. Corrina and Donna are the daughters of the late Melva Kropinyeri, whom is the last direct blood descendant of the Unaipon family.
David, who was born on the banks of the Murray near Tailem Bend and passed away in the Tailem Bend Hospital was, amongst other things, the first published Aboriginal author, pastor, inventor and is well known as the gentleman on the $50 note (which also includes the historic Raukkan Church).
The sculpture, which will be located opposite Little Local Co will commence once we source grant funding, in partnership with the Ngarrindjeri Regional Authority to undertake this exciting project. #ngarrindjeri #NRA #davidunaipon #coorongart (Nat)
