Normal waste services to go ahead Monday despite current Bruce Highway closure

Posted on 10th Feb 2019

Despite the current Bruce Highway closure between Plantation Creek and the Burdekin River, Council’s waste contractor will be conducting normal waste collection services in the Home Hill and Wunjunga areas on Monday 11 February. Collection remains subject to local road closures and accessibility. As Council is working to service areas that experienced disruptions to their normal waste collection service, some collections may occur earlier than usual. Residents in Home Hill and Wunjunga are encouraged to place their bins out for collection before 6am Monday. The Home Hill rural areas that experienced disruption to normal collection services on Friday 8 February will now be collected on Tuesday 12 February. Council is continuing to monitor floodwaters and is working with its waste contractor to develop a plan to catch up on waste services in areas such as Rita Island, Groper Creek, Jerona and Dalbeg.
