Works to rectify some building issues at the Millmerran Cultural Centre will begin this week (11 February 2019).
Toowoomba Regional Council Environment and Community Services Committee Chair Cr Geoff McDonald said the rectification works involved fixing up the floor and underpinning the building and walls.
“While the building is safe to use and there is no risk to the community, Council has identified that some works are needed to stabilise the building,” Cr McDonald said.
“Parts of the flooring and walls will need to be removed as part of the rectification works. Micropiles will be poured to help fix issues with the flooring.
“Once the works are completed, the floor will be sanded and polished.”
Cr McDonald said the rectification works are expected to be completed by Anzac Day, 25 April this year.
The Cultural Centre features a proscenium arch, kitchen and cold room facilities and has a capacity of about 300. The centre is used for a wide range of community and touring events.
The rectification works will be carried out by Council and a contractor.
Council will seek to minimise any impacts during the works and thanks the community for their patience and co-operation.
