The State strategy will look for a consistent three bin system across all local governments by 2025, incorporating a food organics/garden organics bin.

The City of Rockingham has the three bin collection system, with a garden organics bin only. Food scraps are to be placed into the red lidded landfill bin.

Items that can be placed into the green lidded bin:

small branches and prunings: leaves cut flowers weeds lawn clippings.

Following the release of the State strategy, the City's Waste Strategy is currently under development. Ways to reduce waste to landfill are being investigated in line with the state governments material recovery target. Read about the State's strategy here.
