Lithgow Adventure Playground to Open

The Lithgow Adventure Playground set to open in late February will be a delight for children wanting to enjoy an amazing and uniquely Lithgow play experience.
Designed by award winning playground designer Ric Mcconaghy, Lithgow Adventure Playground at Endeavour Park is one of the largest recreational developments for the children and families of Lithgow in recent years.
“Council is very excited about this playground and you would have to travel a long way to see anything as special as this,” said Mayor Ray Thompson. “This all abilities playground will provide fun, safe, interesting and unstructured play areas for children to develop their creative, social and cognitive skills. Designed with a mining theme in mind, it has a climbing tower in the style of a mining poppet head as its centre piece, a double mouse wheel, flying fox, climbing walls, water play features and much more.”
The playground promises to be a fantastic location for local and visiting families to spend time and to explore its many magical features. For many families, playgrounds provide a support network, a place for their children to learn new skills, build friendships, develop communication and language skills, and links to the wider community.
The project also aims to bring visitors to Lithgow to experience its range of recreational, sporting and cultural attractions.
“I would especially like to acknowledge the funding support for the playground from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund and also from Centennial Coal which have enabled Council to get this project done. I would also like to express Council’s appreciation to Co-ordinated Landscapes which did a fantastic job of building the playground and to the many other contactors and artists who had a hand in it”.
The community is invited to the official playground opening from 10:00am on Saturday 9 March 2019 where there will be entertainment by Mitchell Conservatorium and Cirkus Surreal and a free sausage sizzle provided by Lithgow Lions Club.
