Cardinia Shire Council welcomes the announcement of federal government funding to improve road conditions and address congestion.
The announced funding commitment includes: $13m for intersection improvements at the Monash Freeway and McGregor Road, and $17.8m for intersection upgrades along the Princes Freeway from Glismann Road to Thewlis Road.
Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Graeme Moore said the funding commitment will enable projects to improve road conditions across some of the shire’s biggest road congestion and safety issues.
“With high levels of residential growth in Cardinia Shire, combined with growth in businesses in the region and increased investment in employment-creating industries, these improvements are much-needed.
“Council will now progress to detailed designs to get these projects ‘on the road’ for our community.
“Council has been advocating on behalf of our community for these improvements, and will continue to do so to ensure the broader road network across our Shire can cope with increasing traffic demands,” he said.
