Eurobodalla Council is looking to establish a collection of works by artists of renown who have lived and worked in the region.
The collection will be guided by a new art acquisition policy, currently on public exhibition, which provides a framework for the selection, preservation and de-selection of artwork for display in Council’s facilities.
The collection will reflect the life and artistic excellence of Eurobodalla and be built via an acquisitive $5000 prize as part of the Basil Sellers Art Prize and through an $8000 annual budget.
The collection will help raise the profile and recognition of local arts practitioners, support the local creative economy, and create a repository of work of artists of renown who have lived and worked in the region.
Over time it is hoped it will provide an insightful view of Eurobodalla’s social, geographic, cultural history and development, and promote and encourage creativity in our community.
The community is encouraged to provide feedback on the draft Art Acquisition Policy, available on Council’s website www.esc.nsw.gov.au/publicexhibition from Wednesday 20 February until Wednesday 20 March.
