It has certainly been a busy start to the week with an important announcement made on the future of Snowy 2.0.
The State Government has granted planning approval for Snowy 2.0 exploratory works, a significant step in the progression of this project.
On Monday, at the Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre, I joined the Deputy Premier John Barilaro, Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Premier and Southern NSW Bronnie Taylor, and Snowy Hydro CEO Paul Broad for the announcement.
I am excited at the prospect of a boost to the region’s economy through increased employment and further industry opportunities as a result of Snowy 2.0.

Council has been working closely with Snowy Hydro to ensure the region is ready to take advantage of the economic boost that Snowy 2.0 will bring.
With this potential on the horizon, there are endless opportunities for our already-strong local industries.
An international delegation has visited the Snowy Monaro as part of a three-day trade mission showcasing our wonderful region. This Trade Mission delivered an engaging, enlightening, and rewarding few days.
Consular representatives from 16 countries toured the region, taking in the very best of the Snowy Monaro.
The delegation was shown our key industries and potential investment opportunities with a particular focus on the tourism and renewables sectors.
I enjoyed meeting delegates at a dinner hosted by the Deputy Premier on Monday night at Lake Crackenback. Delegates were impressed at the region’s readiness to do business.
Following last week’s Ordinary Council Meeting, four draft strategies have been placed on public exhibition.
The Community Transport Strategy, Library Strategy, and Destination Management Plan are ready for your feedback. You can have your say until Wednesday 13 March.
