Whitlam Library Cabramatta extends hours

Whitlam Library Cabramatta will further extend its opening hours to midnight on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from March to meet the community’s growing needs to work during the day and study at night.
Currently Whitlam Library is open until 10pm on those days – an extension of two hours on the normal closing time of 8pm.
Residents reported that they appreciated the extra hours, especially business people and senior high school and university students who enjoyed the quiet time for study.
Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said the extension to opening hours was yet another example of Fairfield City Open Libraries being at the forefront of accommodating the community’s needs.
“The City’s students are to be congratulated for studying hard and achieving great results, and we want to help support their efforts,” Mayor Carbone said.
“Our libraries give students a place to meet, to study and learn and gain access to the latest resources. Libraries are important community hubs for people to come together and great places to work and learn.
“There are free computers and wi-fi access available. You can download or borrow from thousands of books, audiobooks and magazines.
“This is another example of Council transforming our libraries to meet our evolving community’s needs.
“I encourage all residents and library members to take advantage of the extended hours either for study or to enjoy what the library offers at a time that suits you.”
Residents who want to use the library between 8pm and 10pm or midnight on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays must be a library member aged 16 years and over and have their membership card activated at Whitlam Library to specifically allow late access.
Library membership is free.
