Free Public WiFi Testing
Council has installed a free public WiFi system in the CBD and some recreation areas and we want the community to test the system and provide feedback before it is launched later this year.

The Free Public WiFi project was funded by Council and the Australian Government through the Smart Cities and Suburbs Program.
Play Like a Panther Super Clinic
Rub shoulders with the Penrith Panthers NRL squad at the ‘Play Like a Panther Super Clinic’. The clinic is open to children 5-12 years of age to learn rugby league skills and drills. All participants must register online at www.bathurstnrl.com.au. The clinic will be held on Thursday 28 March, from 4pm-5pm at the Bathurst Sports Ground.
Living Legends nominations
Nominations are now open for the 2019 Living Legends awards. The title, Living Legend, recognises the achievements of individuals and the way they have contributed positively to the community
An individual will be considered for the Living Legends list if they currently living within the Bathurst Regional Council area and have contributed to making Bathurst a great place to live and visit. Living Legends are announced on Proclamation Day in May each year.

Bathurst Region Macquarie Medal Project/Scholarship 2019/20
Applications are now invited for a supporting grant or scholarship, under Section 356 of the Local Government Act 1993, to undertake a major work or learning in the following areas:
1. Conservation, maintenance and adaptive reuse projects of heritage items or at risk buildings and sites of heritage value within the Bathurst Region.
2. Promotion and interpretation of the history and heritage of the Bathurst region, its building and places, natural environment, people and projects and their embedded stories and enhance community reflection and understanding about the Bathurst region’s history.
3. Support the learning in heritage management and conservation.
4. Foster and support the growth of heritage trades and practices.
A grant of up to $10,000 (paid over two years) is available to the winning project or area of learning.
Applications for funding must be made on Council’s application form which is available on Council’s website at www.bathurst.nsw.gov.au or from Council’s Environmental, Planning and Building Services Department, Civic Centre, Russell Street, Bathurst.
The closing date for applications is Friday, 15 March 2019.
Operation Cat
For a limited time, the Cat Protection Society NSW Inc is offering $50 cat desexing plus F3 vaccination for health care card holders and pensioners who are residents of the Bathurst LGA. Inc conjunction, Council is also offering microchipping free of charge as part of the ‘Operation cat’ program. Bookings for the program must be made by calling 9519 7201. The program will conclude on 22 February depending on available slots. Availability is limited to 80 spots.
Dog Whisperer
Residents are invited to an evening with Australia’s dog training specialist, Steve Austin. Steve’s credentials regarding dog training and behaviour are second to none and internationally recognised. He will be discussing responsible dog ownership at BMEC on 15 February at 7pm. Tickets are free, call 6333 6161 to book.
Celebrate at Seniors Festival
Seniors Festival is a celebration of the valuable contribution seniors make to the Bathurst community. An array of events, activities and entertainment will be on offer between 13 and 24 February for all seniors to enjoy, including historic bus tours, music, morning teas, open days and much more.

George and Howick Street Roundabout Upgrade

Draft Bathurst Public Art Policy Public Exhibition
Council has prepared a Draft Bathurst Public Art Policy, which is on exhibition for community feedback.
Hard copies of the draft policy are available for viewing at the Civic Centre and Bathurst Library, or can be downloaded from the Your Say Bathurst website. Submissions can be lodged via Your Say Bathurst or in writing to the General Manager, Private Mail Bag 17, Bathurst NSW 2795 by 4pm Thursday 21 February 2019.
Annual Funding/Donations Program Section 356 Donations
Council is seeking expressions of interest from community organisations and individuals seeking funding from Council to be included in the 2019/2020 budget. Funding is available for the period from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2020.
To apply, submit an application form which is available on Council’s website or from the Civic Centre, 158 Russell Street, Bathurst by 4.00 pm on Tuesday 5 February.
Organisations/groups who have received funding previously should re-apply if they wish to be considered for further funding.
