Bayside’s recycling not affected

Media is reporting that two Melbourne recycling sites have been shut down by the Environment Protection Authority and affected councils may be forced to send their recyclable to landfill temporarily.

Fortunately Bayside City Council does not use this particular contractor and will not be affected by this action.

So please continue to help our environment by putting your recyclables in the blue bin and reducing the amount of waste going to landfill. Reminder too that our new food waste recycling will be introduced later this year.

Bayside’s 44,000 plus households produce more than 41,000 tonnes of rubbish per year, with over 51% of this material recycled such as glass, plastic, paper products and green organics.
