There’s no better time of year than Clean Up Australia Day to come together as a community, don a pair of gloves and clean up litter from our beautiful beaches, waterways and parks.

Last year’s event was inspiring with a total of 9.8 tonnes of waste picked up across 95 sites on the Northern Beaches.

At Manly Cove alone, 106 volunteer scuba divers from Dive Centre Manly removed 80kg of rubbish from the water in just one hour. Single-use plastics including plastic bags, cutlery, food wrappers and straws made up 76 per cent of items removed from the water on the day.

Let’s make this year even bigger! Registrations are now open to register a site or volunteer at a registered Northern Beaches site near you.

There are three Clean Up Australia Day events so if you’re a business owner, teacher or school student, there’s an opportunity for you to get involved:

Business Clean Up Day, Tuesday 26 FebruarySchool Clean Up Day, Friday 1 MarchCommunity Clean Up Day, Sunday 3 March

Over the last 29 years, Clean Up Australia Day volunteers have donated more than 33 million hours, at over 178,000 locations across the country. Together they have removed the equivalent of 350,000 ute-loads of rubbish across Australia.
