New CBD 40kmh zone starts on Monday

Cairns Regional Council reminds motorists that the new 40kmh zone in the Cairns CBD commences on Monday (18 February 2019).

The new zone is between Florence and Spence streets, and McLeod Street to the Esplanade.

Existing 30kmh zones on Lake Street and the Esplanade remain in place.

The new, lower speed limit will reduce the risk of fatal injury to pedestrians and cyclists.
