Road stabilisation work to start

Released 8 February 2019

Work to repair sections of road in the Shire of Broome damaged by record rainfall during the previous 2017/18 wet season gets underway on Monday 11 February.

Temporary repairs were undertaken during 2018 to allow traffic to continue using the roads until the permanent upgrades could be carried out including excavation, soil stabilisation and resealing.

Construction will be undertaken by Broome firm McCorry Brown Earthmoving, with work to be carried out in the following locations:

11–14 Feb: Lullfitz Dve 15–16 Feb: Cape Leveque Rd (SLK 124) 16–18 Feb: Cape Leveque Rd (SLK 146)  19–21 Feb: Frederick St (near Coghlan St intersection)

Detours and traffic management will be in place while work is undertaken, but access will be retained for any affected residents.

The work is funded through the WA Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements that were activated following the extreme weather of the 2017/18 wet season.
