The annual Campbelltown City Challenge Walk takes place in less than three weeks and walkers are reminded to sign up for the not-for-profit community event.
Participants have until 6 March to register online at the discount rate for the walk, which will be held in the tranquil setting of the Australian Botanic Garden, Mt Annan, on Sunday 10 March. Late entries will also be open on the day.
About 1400 people are expected to take the challenge, which has been held for more than 20 years as part of Council’s healthy lifestyles initiatives.
“This is a great annual event, that promotes living a healthier lifestyle and has the support of organisations and businesses in the community, who donate their time and expertise to help make it the success that it is,” said Mayor George Brticevic.
“It’s designed for literally everyone in the community to be able to take part and reflects the inclusive attitude the residents of Campbelltown have,’’ Cr Brticevic said.
Suitable for people of all ages and abilities, residents can register as an individual or team and people with a disability are encouraged to join in, with a 6km or 11km circuit to choose from.
The walk is held in age categories as well as the four team categories of primary school, secondary school, corporate organisation, open (community group, association or club) and fitness (such as a gym or bootcamp) over the 6km and 11km distances. Stroller/pram walkers are welcome to participate over either distance.
The pre-event entry fee is $11.40 and people can register in-person at Council’s Customer Service Counter at 91 Queen St, Campbelltown, until 4.30pm, Friday 1 March, or through Council’s website until Wednesday 6 March. The cost to register on the day of the event is $22.80.
For the first time, all entrants will receive a medal for participating, and everyone will be automatically entered into a barrel draw of prizes for taking part.
