The Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) is asking everyone to clean up in style as they clean up Australia this year.
According to TRC Chair of the Water and Waste Water Committee Cr Nancy Sommerfield, Hi-Vis yellow is the new black, hats are back in fashion and gloves are this year’s ‘must-have accessory’ to be on trend to clean up our region.
“Clean Up Australia Day on 3rd March is one of three recognised days where the public can get involved in cleaning up our region. There is also Business Clean-up day (26 February) and School Clean-up Day (1 March) where residents can participate.”
“Council are great supporters of the volunteers who get involved in this national call to action.
“Council proudly supports any community programs to keep the region clean and prevent environmental harm.
“We would love to see every day as ‘Clean Up Australia Day’.”
Cr Sommerfield highlighted the importance of registering your Clean Up Australia Day site.
“Registered sites are located across the region. Yarraman conducts its Clean Up Day during Australia Day festivities.
Cr Sommerfield also urged regional residents to stay safe on Clean Up Australia Day.
“Make sure you wear the right gear, slip, slop, slap and that your roadside clean ups are only carried out on Council roads - These generally have a speed limit of less than 60KM.
“Clean Up Australia Day events allow us to show real pride in our region and our nation, so let’s all get involved in this year’s event.”
Participating sites are organised and run by volunteers and community groups through the Clean Up Australia Day website.
