Nominations Open for annual Sports Awards

Tamworth is home to many talented athletes and sporting groups, who achieve outstanding results and represent the region proudly across an array of sporting fields.

To celebrate these efforts and successes, Tamworth Regional Council will hold the annual Sports Awards for 2018 on Thursday, 4 April 2019 and are calling for those who are well-deserving of recognition to be nominated. 

Nominations for the performance period of 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2018 will be open from Monday, 25 February to Thursday, 21 March 2019.

Manager of Sports and Recreation at Tamworth Regional Council, Paul Kelly said “We want to congratulate the individuals, the sporting clubs and associations, the coaches and supporters that do the Tamworth region proud each year.

“We encourage anyone that knows a local sportsperson, a club, a coach, or a supporter that has done their best both on and off the sporting field and who deserves some recognition, to put them forward for a Sports Award.”

The 2018 Tamworth Regional Council Sports Award categories include:

Over the course of the nomination period and on the day of the Sports Awards, Tamworth Regional Council will be offering the community the chance to participate in a survey and share their thoughts on how they believe the athletes and sporting clubs in the Tamworth region should be acknowledged in the future.

“We want to make sure these individuals and groups are offered the best form of congratulations and opportunities based on their outstanding achievements. In order to do so, we want to hear the community’s feedback as to how they think we should do this moving forward,” added Kelly.
