Smithfield Park amenities upgraded

Residents and local sporting clubs using Smithfield Park sportsground now have better facilities with Fairfield City Council upgrading the amenities building and toilets.
“Local sporting club Fairfield Hotspurs soccer club, as well as residents and families will be able enjoy the new amenities at Smithfield Park in Smithfield, thanks to work undertaken by Fairfield City Council,” Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said.
“We want to help the club which lays claim to three international players in Harry Kewell, Paul Okon and Traci Bartlett, as well as families, to get out and get active.”
Council is investing $300,000 on the amenity building and toilet block, which includes:
Replacing the existing timber framed roof with a steel structure and insulation, Installing new bathroom finishes and fittings, New external doors, windows, and New electrical wiring.Council has for the past four years been investing in the renewal of its amenity buildings.
“Council has budgeted to invest $21.3 million over the next four years to build and renew our sporting amenity buildings across the City,” Mayor Carbone said.
“In the last year alone we have upgraded facilities at Makepeace Oval in Fairfield, Rosford Reserve in Smithfield, Fairfield Baseball Park, St Johns Park sportsground, Bosnjak Oval in Edensor Park and Knight Park in Yennora.
“These works underscore our commitment to building Fairfield City’s reputation as a great place to live, work and raise a family.”
