The Town's Cambridge's Private Property Local Law requires that home owners affix and maintain the current street number in a conspicuous place on the front of the building, fence or gate adjacent to the street fronting the lot.
Mayor Keri Shannon said that by affixing clearly visible house numbers it assists services like Australia Post and emergency authorities in locating and identifying a property.
The 'Australia Post Address Presentation Standards' is also a useful guide to follow.
"The Town has adopted the Australian Standard for house numbers to be consistent with all other Local Government areas," she said.
"Even if a house has a large and well-lit house number it is the residents responsibility to make sure it is not obscured by anything like vegetation or foliage from a garden."
"If any resident requires any information regarding their house numbers, please contact the Town of Cambridge's Health, Building and Compliance Section."
