Throw on your thick, durable gardening style gloves – it’s clean up time!

Clean Up Australia Day is the nation’s largest community-based environmental event aimed at cleaning up, fixing up and conserving our environment.

Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett called on community members to don a wide brimmed hat and lend a hand this Clean Up Australia Day.

“We are lucky to live in such a beautiful corner of the world, and year after year I am reminded of our strong community pride when we work together to clean up our region,” Councillor Burnett said.

“The day is a chance to bring together local businesses and community members to make a positive contribution to improving the local environment while raising awareness about the impact of litter.”

Councillor Burnett said the main Clean Up Australia Day community event this year would be held this Sunday (3 March).

“Gladstone Regional Council supports the community’s clean-up efforts by arranging waste collection and disposal, providing extra materials and assisting sites on the day,” he said.

Local companies also provide welcome assistance by donating skip bins at locations around the region.
