Mayor Cr Natalie O’Connell said the pedestrian bridge works were programmed for later in the year, but had to completed urgently, as the existing structure was showing signs of failure.

“The works have included timber decking replaced with fibreglass mesh grating, the existing pedestrian fencing was replaced with galvanised fencing,” Cr O’Connell said.

“A centre pier was installed to strengthen the bridge to compensate for the water main that is attached to bridge.”
