HomeNews Articles2019February 2019 Introducing the “Glen Artney Enterprise Area”
Tuesday, 27 February 2019

An area predicted to be the “economic engine room” of the Tamworth Region over the next 20 years has a new name - the Glen Artney Enterprise Area.

Tamworth Regional Councillors have tonight decided to combine two areas of Tamworth under one name, renaming the yet-to-be developed site of the Tamworth Enterprise Area and the existing Glen Artney Industrial Estate.

It was announced in October 2018 that a premier freight, industry and business precinct would be built on the two sites, which sit adjacent to each other.

Tamworth Regional Council General Manager, Paul Bennett says Council is currently undertaking detailed infrastructure and planning investigations for both areas to facilitate future development, so adopting a single name will make it easier to reference the location.

“These areas are intended to become the premier freight, industry and business precinct in NSW and will provide future employment opportunities for a range of enterprises and commercial operations,” he said.

“Council is currently working towards the preparation of a detailed Structure Plan and Infrastructure Delivery Plan for the two sites, which will provide a framework for future land use, infrastructure and investment in the area.

“Formally combining the two areas under one name will make it easier to reference the location for planning, marketing and promotional purposes now and into the future.”

The site currently which was known as the Tamworth Enterprise Area is a 246-hectare Council-owned site which sits adjacent to the existing Glen Artney Industrial Estate. The sites are located approximately seven kilometres to the west of Tamworth CBD.
