Gladstone Regional Council’s Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre (GECC) has played host to hundreds of local government delegates from across Queensland for the past two days (26 and 27 Feb).
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said he was pleased to attend the 2019 Local Government Association of Queensland’s (LGAQ) Finance and Strategic Leadership Summit with some of Council’s senior leaders.
Titled ‘Facing The Future’, Councillor Burnett said the Summit had been inspirational.
“Hosting the Summit has enabled Council to gain greater insight into important topics for local governments - leadership, culture and governance; with quality information able to be accessed right here on our regional doorstep,” Cr Burnett.
“The information delivered by industry experts has been specifically designed to assist local government leaders and provides valuable knowledge about strategy and governance; finance and reporting.”
Cr Burnett said the Summit had provided an important platform to share information, learn new skills and hear about approaches which could be applied at councils.
“As an added bonus, this has been a great opportunity to showcase the Gladstone Region, boost our economy, attract future tourism to our area and to highlight the magnificent conference facilities on offer at the GECC,” he said.
