A new amenity block will soon be under construction at the East Gippsland Livestock Exchange, which will provide greater facilities for all at the saleyard.
The old red toilet block has been demolished and the site is fenced off. The new facilities will be constructed on the same site.
Council’s Director Development, Paul Holton said the new facility serving the East Gippsland Shire Council-managed yards will have male and female toilets, change rooms and shower facilities, and an all ability unisex cubicle. It will be available for truck drivers at all times and for saleyard staff and patrons during saleyard hours.
“The unisex/all ability cubicle will be available for public access for City Oval patrons at all times. It is anticipated that the works will be completed by June,” Mr Holton said.
During construction there are other toilet and shower facilities on site.
This work is funded as part of council’s capital works renewal program and was imperative to ensure the standard of facilities onsite lifted to meet current health standards.
