Wednesday, April 3 – Sunday, April 7, 2019 In celebration of the Brisbane Cycling Festival riding into city for the first this year, we will be projecting Rachael Haynes’s Hero onto the William Jolly Bridge from 3-7 April, 5:30-10pm nightly. The bicycle holds special significance in art history: for the Italian Futurists, it was a symbol of speed and dynamism that inspired bold, abstract works with fractured planes and echoing curves. Rachael Haynes’ work comprises vibrant drawings of fractured concentric circles that echo the values of Modern abstraction. Hayes’ vibrate blue, purple, pink, orange and green drawing shares the sense of movement and excitement of the first Brisbane Cycling Festival. Rachael Haynes is a contemporary artist and academic who lives and works in Brisbane. The Brisbane Cycling Festival runs from 28 March – 14 April 2019 across Brisbane.
