Friday Club celebrates its 4th Birthday.
During February, members of The Friday Club came together to celebrate the programs 4th birthday. The Friday Club is a program that works to bring Senior Citizens in the community together and is specifically designed to help older people to continue living independently through a range of discussions, talks and activities.
Community Care Worker, Toni-Ann Stewart, says that the Friday Club has brought together strangers who have since become friends. “The Club not only gives members a chance to form long lasting friendships but also gives them the opportunity to learn new skills and interests,” Ms Stewart said. “We are really proud of the evolving program which has seen our members participate in art classes and visits to open gardens, as well as interesting presentations from authors and politicians,” Ms Stewart said.
Held every week at the Apex Seniors Hall, new members are encouraged to come along, make new friends and engage in the weekly activities. Contact Yass Valley Home Living Support Service for more information – 6226 4555.
The Friday Club is funded by the Department of Social Services, managed by Yass Valley Home Living Support Service and supported by Yass Valley Council.
