WENDY TUCKERMAN: New Science Facilities Underway for Yass High School Official Media Release from the Office of Liberal Candidate Wendy Tuckerman Monday, 11 February 2019

Hundreds of Yass families will benefit from the NSW Liberal Government’s record investment in education, with a major upgrade to Yass High School already underway. Education Minister Rob Stokes and Liberal candidate for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman explained the upgrade will provide six new innovative science classrooms, a staff study space, seminar rooms and an outdoor learning space.

Ms Tuckerman said she was thrilled for families in Yass. “Our kids deserve the best possible learning facilities and this major upgrade will deliver that. I’m particularly excited to see the outcomes for Yass high schoolers who will have access to new state-of-the-art science classrooms. It’s a big win for our community” Ms Tuckerman said.

Mr Stokes said the project is another example of the NSW Government delivering the school resources local students and their families deserve. “We want our children to have the best opportunities and providing high-quality school facilities is essential,” Mr Stokes said.

The major upgrade to Yass High School is in addition to the NSW Government’s record $6 billion school building program to deliver more than 170 new and upgraded schools, which also includes a new primary school at Murrumbateman.

Mr Stokes said the Liberal Government’s record investment in schools was in stark contrast to Labor’s. “The last time Labor was in power, they shut down 90 schools, resulting in a loss of more than 500 classrooms and 2000 student places,” he said.

In addition to the record-breaking school building program, the NSW Liberal Government has committed an unprecedented investment to eliminate the school maintenance backlog so that every public school in the State provides the world-class facilities that our students and teachers deserve.
