Thursday, February 28 was a milestone day for East Gippsland Shire Council Parks and Gardens trainee Dylan Rowlands.
Dylan, who has been undertaking a traineeship with council since January 2016, marked the completion of his Certificate II in Horticulture with his peers at the start of their work day at the Bruce Road Depot, Kalimna West.
Dylan, regarded as a 'natural gardener' by his peers, was initially appointed on a school-based traineeship. He finished year 12 while working one day a week, and while completing his certificate course through Skillinvest also juggled a second job at Dahlsens in Bairnsdale.
Dylan was congratulated by his colleagues, who he thanked for their assistance in completing the course, at a presentation attended by his mum Linda and SkillInvest apprenticeship consultant Howard Stobo.
