A master plan is being developed for Ayr’s Anzac Park to guide future planning and development priorities for the 17.5-hectare precinct.

Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said Council would like to see the area become a destination park for the benefit of both residents and visitors.

“The Anzac Park precinct already includes a number of sporting clubs and facilities, including Burdekin Basketball Association, the PCYC, Burdekin Touch Football and Rugby League Clubs, and the Ayr Swimming Pool,” Cr McLaughlin said.

“This key strategic document will identify possible future developments within the precinct, including the potential for a water play area and expansion of the indoor sports stadium.”

Specialist consultancy firm Ross Planning has been appointed to develop the Anzac Park Master Plan.

Cr McLaughlin said the community would be invited to provide feedback during the preparation of the Master Plan, with consultation expected to occur in March and April.
