Road safety event for Springsure youth

Central Highlands Regional Council is partnering with the Springsure Fire Services Club and Springsure Lions Club to increase road safety awareness of young people in Springsure.
The Road Attitudes and Action Planning presentation (RAAP) will be held on Saturday 23 March 2019 at the Bauhinia Memorial Hall and includes a BBQ breakfast.
Mayor Kerry Hayes said the event aims to prevent accidents by education and changing the mindset of young and old road users.
‘The Road Attitudes and Action Planning presentation is facilitated by Queensland Fire Emergency Services and we’re lucky to be partnering with the Springsure Fire Services club for this event,’ Mayor Hayes said.
‘The presentation is held by firefighters who have experienced crash trauma first hand and focuses on factors putting young drivers at high risk, such as driving under influence, deliberate risk taking and overconfidence and lack of experience.
‘While the presentation has a focus on young people, it’s valuable for every road user.
‘If we can change only one person’s thinking about their driving behaviour and save one life, it’s worthwhile.’
