Gladstone is being touted as the place to be this Easter, with an abundance of fun, food, festivals and entertainment on offer.

Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett has encouraged travellers to choose Gladstone as their holiday destination of choice while regional residents are urged to holiday at home and join in the celebrations and festivities.

Cr Burnett yesterday announced new and exciting 2019 Easter in Gladstone attractions to a national viewing audience on Seven’s Sunrise television show’s weather broadcast at Gladstone’s Auckland Point lookout.

“This year, Easter in Gladstone is going to be awesome - bigger and better, with attractions to suit everyone,” Councillor Burnett said.

Nestled on Queensland’s coastline, Gladstone offers the perfect waterfront getaway and Easter in Gladstone will serve up perfect weather, great food and plenty of events.

The annual Gladstone Harbour Festival is steeped in tradition and offers free festival and sideshow alley entertainment from Wednesday 17 April to Sunday 21 April.

“This family-orientated event provides an extensive program of entertainment with stage performances, fireworks and food and fun,” Cr Burnett said.

“Hand-in-hand with the festival, comes all the excitement of the 71st Brisbane to Gladstone (B2G) Yacht Race.

“Follow the race action, tune in to live-streaming of the race start and be in Gladstone to cheer the yachts and their crews across the finish line.”

Cr Burnett said Council was pleased to support the Gladstone Harbour Festival and B2G live-streaming and was proud to this year also support the introduction of a new concept, Brisbane to Gladstone Village.

“Exciting news this year is the establishment of a Brisbane to Gladstone Village along the Auckland Creek waterfront which will host a Brisbane to Gladstone Line Crossing Party, a Yachtsman’s Long Lunch and see the return of the popular and much-loved, Seafood Festival,” he said.

Brisbane to Gladstone Village will add premium entertainment to Gladstone’s Easter celebrations for members of the community, yacht race crews and their families.

“Brisbane to Gladstone Village is an event not to be missed and will showcase Gladstone as a sophisticated ‘Port City’ of Australia,” he said.

“The event will celebrate the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race, one of the oldest yachting races in Australia, which has become a Queensland icon.”

A Brisbane to Gladstone Line Crossing Party will celebrate yachts crossing the finish line with tasty food, a licensed bar and talented musicians.

The Village Seafood Festival will include live music, numerous displays, licensed bars and an array of seafood.

The Yachtsman’s Long Lunch will feature guest speakers and a three-course meal paired with a selection of fine wine and beer.

Tickets for the Brisbane to Gladstone Village events are on sale now and can be purchased through the Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre.
