More than 130 women will hear about the importance of financial literacy during Council’s Women’s Week event this Friday night.

The Your Finances, Your Future event, which is being headlined by financial planner and former Burdekin resident Leisa Quagliata, sold out in less than a week.

Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said it was encouraging to see that so many local women had an interest in enhancing their economic security.

“Queensland Women’s Week is all about investing in women and investing in the future,” she said.

“This event will provide an opportunity for local women to hear from five successful business women and to feel empowered about taking control of their own finances.”

Queensland Women’s Week (2 to 10 March 2019) is an extension of International Women’s Day held annually on 8 March.
