JULIA CREEK DIRT N DUST FESTIVAL

APRIL 12 to 14, 2019

Based at the famed Queensland Outback town of Julia Creek, the Dirt and Dust Festival is three jam-packed days of fun and entertainment including the outback triathlon, the Artesian Express Outback Horse Races, nightly outdoor concerts and the spectacular Dirt n Dust Bullride.

WINTON’S WAY OUT WEST FEST

APRIL 25 to 28, 2019

Winton’s Way Out West Fest was first held in 2018 to mark the reopening of the iconic Waltzing Matilda Centre. Now this four-day camping and music festival is celebrated across eight stages with 170 hours of music. Bringing together artists from country, pop, rock and blues, the second Winton’s Way Out West Fest presents Amy Shark, John Williamson, MIssy Higgins, Brett Eldredge (USA), Jon Pardi (USA), The Road Hammers, San Cisco, Lime Cordiale, Chad Morgan, Murphy’s Pigs and more.

THE OUTBACK QUEENSLAND MASTERS – One million reasons to play golf in the Outback

June to August 2019

Introducing a new, multi-location golf event for Outback Queensland, including a million-dollar hole-in-one challenge taking place across six regional locations from June to August, in partnership with Golf Australia. It will start in Roma and visit Charleville, Longreach, Winton and Boulia before concluding in Mount Isa. The final event will feature a ‘Million Dollar Hole-in-One Challenge’, which golfers can qualify for by competing in at least two other events in the series.

BIRDSVILLE BIG RED BASH

JULY 16 – JULY 18, 2019

It’s the world’s most remote music festival, the Birdsville Big Red Bash in the heart of Australia’s outback! The three-day festival returns at the Big Red desert dune and this year stars Midnight Oil in their ONLY 2019 Australian performance – the opportunity to see Midnight Oil playing in the Simpson Desert!!!

BOULIA CAMEL RACES

JULY 19 to 21, 2019

Known as the ‘Melbourne Cup of Camel Racing’ the event attracts professional camel racing teams from across Australia, all with hopes to win the 1500m Boulia Camel Cup, all at home in this tiny Outback Queensland and its 300 residents.  It’s the longest, toughest and most prestigious camel race in Australia and held right out on the edge of the Simpson Desert.

MOUNT ISA MINES RODEO

AUGUST 8 to 11, 2019

Celebrating 60 years, the Mount Isa Mines Rodeo is the southern hemisphere’s largest rodeo. The Rodeo has evolved into an event of legendary status, attracting 39,793 attendees in 2018. This is Outback Queensland’s largest event.

COB & CO FESTIVAL

AUGUST 17 to 25, 2019

Travel in a horse drawn carriage, see a bullock wagon in action, celebrate a piece of Australia’s unique outback history – just don’t tangle with the bushrangers! Maranoa celebrates the last run of the Cobb & Co Coach service in Australia along the Cobb & Co Way with this family friendly event .

CUNNAMULLA FELLA FESTIVAL

AUGUST 30 – SEPTEMBER 1, 2019

Cowboys, bull riders, shearers and stockmen descend on the famous town of Cunnamulla in country Queensland for this uniquely ‘outback’ event. The Cunnamulla Fella is an iconic bush figure who was immortalised in a song by Stan Coster, sung by Slim Dusty. Featuring a jam-packed program of entertainment with country music, live performances and a carnival atmosphere, the Cunnamulla Fella Festival offers three days of fun-filled activities for the whole family.

BIRDSVILLE RACES

SEPTEMBER 6, 2019

Dubbed as the Melbourne Cup of the Outback, crowds of 6,000 racegoers converge on Birdsville each year to enjoy two day of quality outback racing and entertainment. The second race meet in the Simpson Desert Racing Carnival, the 13 race program features horses from all over Australia competing for the coveted Birdsville Cup. Other entertainment includes the Fashions on the Field, Fred Brophy’s Boxing Troupe, entertainment at the Birdsville Hotel, Fun Run, Cocktail Party, a variety of food vendors and more.

Queensland’s Outback township of Winton Outback Festival celebrates its 25th festival in 2019. The festival’s hilarious signature event, the Quilton Australian Dunny Derby, tops off five days of quirky events, warm Outback hospitality and nightly live entertainment which lures visitors from all over Australia and overseas.
