The Creswick Road car park is scheduled to open in the first part of 2019, but no definite date has yet been confirmed.
Approximately 300 paid parks will accommodate the growing amount of CBD workers, particularly at GovHub.
Construction activity is progressing with stabilised rock surface to be installed tomorrow and an anticipated final seal next week.
The construction delay has been due to the unforeseen unsuitable soil material identified when major excavation was undertaken to construct the paved surface.
The sealed surface will be fully line marked with lighting to provide for safe and convenient car parking for CBD commuters year-round.
The car park’s internal lighting is via existing supply to the site so the Powercor audit process for new supply is not required.
Another 140 free car parks will also open at the Eastern Oval by the end of this financial year, while some on-street carparks within 500 metres of GovHub will also be finalised during this time.
Talks are also continuing with the State Government on the delivery, implementation and time frames for the $14 million election commitment of 1000 free car parks within the Ballarat CBD.
