The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has indicated that recycling processor SKM has made significant progress towards meeting compliance requirements.
Based on EPA and industry updates, Council expects recycling processing to return to normal next week, possibly as early as Monday, but Council will be in a better position to confirm timing next week.
This issue has served as a strong reminder that we can all play a part in reducing the amount of waste we produce in our homes, offices and businesses. We’ve got some useful resources to help you reduce your overall household waste and avoid creating waste in the first place:
Council continues to advocate for the Victorian Government to use its Sustainability Fund for the purpose it was created - to assist local government, to stabilise the recycling industry and to develop more infrastructure and facilities to reduce the risk of this situation happening again.
