Sports clubs urged to sign up for online hub

Keeping up with administrative tasks is easier than ever for community, sport and recreation bodies, thanks to online hub clubCOACH.

Central Highlands Regional Council launched the hub for all things community sports and recreation at the Central Highlands Sports Forum 2019.

Cr Alan McIndoe said clubCOACH will help organisations to become better organised and operate efficiently.

‘The clubCOACH online hub is full of information and resources like templates and applications to make running a sports club a breeze,’ Cr McIndoe said.

‘As the hub develops it will enable sports organisations and council to interact and share events, important updates and more.’

Cr McIndoe said organisations should register for clubCOACH now to get the most out of clubCOACH.

‘Registered organisations will receive access to the applications assetTRAC and meetingTRAC that help streamline asset management and help run efficient meetings,’ Cr McIndoe said.

‘If an organisation doesn’t currently keep track of their asset, it’s likely that thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment is lost every year and the same is true for keeping records of decisions made in meetings.

‘With the applications will eliminate much of the hard work involved with keeping such records up to date.’

McIndoe said feedback from registered organisations will be incorporated into future clubCOACH modules.

Feedback received at the launch was positive.

Emerald Brothers Cricket Club Secretary Lyn Brown said clubCOACH would be a massive benefit to her club.

‘We have long-standing committee members with good governance skills, however, with succession plans in place, clubCOACH will be invaluable as a professional development tool for the new committee and just to give general guidance when the old committee members may no longer be around,’ Ms Brown said.

‘Anyone involved in a sport and recreation organisation knows how easy it can be to be bogged down in the day to day functions of that sport or activity and it is easy for a committee to lose focus on governance.

‘ClubCOACH will help develop strong committees and organisations to lead the way and improve all sport and recreation in the region.’

Council is calling for expressions of interest for clubCOACH ambassadors from community, sport and recreation organisations who want to promote the use of the hub and provide feedback on its content and resources.

The ambassadors will also serve as experts and points of contact for other club members requiring help to utilise the website and its contents.

The clubCOACH hub was developed in collaboration with council’s Game Plan Advisory Committee overseeing the 10-year plan for organised sport and active recreation in the Central Highlands region.
