Hunter Valley Wine Country Official Visitor Map launched!

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent launched the first edition of the Hunter Valley Wine Country Official Visitor Map, alongside local business owners today at the Hunter Valley Visitor Information Centre.  

The map has been developed by Council in collaboration with local businesses who feature on the map. The end result is a comprehensive, user friendly tool for both locals and visitors.  

"This map provides important and helpful information which will assist visitors exploring the area,” Mayor Pynsent said.     

“Our Visitor Centre’s mantra is, ‘let us inspire you’ and the team proudly live up to this. The official visitor map will drive the visitor economy, encourage repeat visitation and support personal recommendations of where to explore by family and friends.”  

Council’s Acting Economic Development Manager, Rhiannon Stevens, said the response and participation from local businesses has been overwhelming.  

“Our team at the Visitor Information Centre have truly delivered a wonderful outcome, and are already receiving interest for the next edition of the map. We are proud to be delivering positive economic development initiatives embraced by local businesses.”  

“We appreciate the ongoing support of our business community and we are proud to showcase the wonderful experiences here in the Hunter Valley.”   With over 500 local businesses represented, the map is an authentic showcase of all the experiences on offer in the area.

The Visitor Centre is not just for visitors, with local residents loving the enormous gift shop of locally produced and handcrafted items, and the range of great information on offer.  

Copies of the new map can be obtained from the Hunter Valley Visitor Information Centre in Pokolbin, or the Council Administration Building in Vincent Street, Cessnock.
