Expressions of interest invited for Cessnock Vineyard District Community Working Group

Cessnock City Council is calling for expressions of interest (EOI) for community members who may be interested in participating in a working group that will help inform the Cessnock Vineyard District Planning Project.

The working group will be made up of 15 people who will give their time voluntarily to assist Council in the planning project. Landowners, viticulturalists, wine and tourism professionals, recreation and accommodation providers are encouraged to apply.

The objective of the project is to develop a suite of clear policy outcomes for the Cessnock Vineyard’s District that allows for and considers land use differentiation between the District’s existing ‘character’ precincts.

Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent said this is an opportunity to hear from a broad range of people and obtain a range of views in the development of these important policies.

“The working group will attend a number of meetings and provide assistance to Council in developing local strategic planning policy that reflects the Vineyards District Community Vision. This vision statement was established by the community and we’re looking forward to continuing working with our community towards achieving the vision.”

“Our vineyard district is a national treasure attracting visitors from around the world and we must ensure local planning policies reflect our vision for the vineyards region to continue to flourish.”

Not all EOI will be successful and Council will assess each EOI with a view of obtaining representation from a diverse range of community members.  All EOI must be received by 5.00pm on 25 March 2019.
