We want your feedback to help plan the new environmentally focused park at Elsternwick Park North on the former golf course site.
The park is now known as Elsternwick Park Nature Reserve until a permanent name is chosen via community consultation for a masterplan for the site.
We want to create a unique, environmentally focused nature reserve that will help to:
Protect the natural environment and encourage biodiversity Increase enjoyment of the open space via compatible community and visitor facilities Improve water quality in Elster Creek and Port Phillip Bay Reduce the risk of flood damage in Elwood and Brighton. The new reserve represents a unique opportunity to create a special, natural place to be enjoyed by residents and visitors from Bayside as well as the broader region. It will be an important green space for Melbourne, bringing nature back into our urban area.
Planning for the futureWe want to understand how our community wants to use the nature reserve to inform its future design. This includes the type of facilities that could be included on the site.
Community feedback will be used in conjunction with expert advice on any site constraints, eg underground drains and soil conditions, as well as advice on how best to enhance the natural environment to attract wildlife.
Feedback closes 30 AprilĀ 2019
