More parking at Noreuil

The works have started with improvements to parking under the trees on Noreuil Parade, including the development of tree protection areas and line marking.

In April, a brick retaining wall will be built at the rear of the Riverdeck Café. This work will involve some road closures along Noreuil Parade directly behind the cafe and Mitta Canoe Club.

From May, a new car park will be built behind the café to provide 36 new spaces as well as additional bike parking. A temporary road access will enable alternative parking while construction takes place.

A new bike path will also be built behind the car park to provide an alternative route for cyclists.

The Riverdeck Café, playground and foreshore will remain open throughout the project.

Café owner Alex Smit welcomed the works, saying the extra parking will make a big difference during busy times.

“It’s fantastic that our beautiful park is so popular but during peak times there can be a parking squeeze so these improvements will make it easier for visitors to park right next to the foreshore and be able to enjoy all of the area’s attractions with ease,” he said.

AlburyCity Mayor Kevin Mack said the works would continue the major improvements that have been made at the park.

“It’s great to see so many families enjoying the improvements to the playground, picnic settings and paths, and the extra parking will make it even easier for people to access these facilities,” he said.

“We do understand that there will be some inconvenience to visitors while the work takes place but all of the facilities will remain open and we thank people in advance for their patience as we work to deliver an even better foreshore for everyone to enjoy.”
