Council puts CBCity on the map

Residents now have the opportunity to share information on the interesting people, places and things in Canterbury-Bankstown.

This week, Council launched its new interactive Where Interesting Happens map, which identifies significant facts of interest.

Mayor Khal Asfour said the virtual map explores what sets CBCity apart from other cities.

"There’s some very interesting information about the people who have played and continue to play an important role in Canterbury-Bankstown," he said.

"We have also identified the interesting places and things which make our City unique.

"We believe this new resource will not only prove interesting for local residents, but school students doing their projects and assignments, and visitors wanting to check out places of interest.

"Visitors can ‘journey’ through each suburb, which displays information about the suburb, its history, and any interesting facts.

"For example, did you know, since early settlement, Earlwood has had four different names – Parkes Camp, Parkestown, Forrest Hill and, finally, Earlwood. Or, that Wiley Park’s Co Dai Temple, was the first Caodaist Temple to open outside of Asia?"

The new interactive map also includes a collection of images, videos and profiles.

"Of course, we may not have captured everything. CBCity is diverse in a number of ways, so we want to receive any feedback or suggestions from residents," Mayor Asfour said.
