Council Works – Week ending 08 March 2019

“For the week ending 08 March, the following key works were completed by Council staff”, noted Council’s Mayor, Cr. Ray Thompson.

“Within the urban Lithgow area last week, Council staff continued worked towards the repair of burst services at Railway Parade, Tony Luchetti Showground, Martini Parade, Coalbrook Street and Atkinson Street. Council continues to appreciate the patience of the community while assets are restored in these areas. Additionally, the drainage reconstruction and enlargement at Hartley Valley Road, Lithgow has been completed. This has been a project progressively being completed over the previous two financial years and is now complete. It is expected that this work will significantly reduce the potential for flooding within the Vale of Clwydd, particularly along Redgate Street and Ramsay Street.”

“Last week, Council’s rural staff have focused on vegetation control and final capital project preparation”, said Mayor Thompson. “Rural works staff have been working towards the final bitumen sealing date for 2018/19 of the 14 March however as it stands, wet weather may postpone this work. Every effort will be made to complete these projects as soon as possible and Council apologises for the inconvenience. Once resealing projects have been complete, staff will commence Council’s gravel resheeting program with Hearne Street, Capertee.”

“I’m pleased to note that line marking works have commenced this week in preparation for upcoming winter weather conditions”, said Mayor Thompson. “Works have commenced with Pipers Flat Road from Wallerawang to Portland being completed alongside unmarked sections of Browns Gap Road and Lithgow Street, Lithgow outside the Valley Plaza. Works will continue with Range Road, Portland and pedestrian crossings throughout Portland in order to best ensure the safety of local motorists and pedestrians throughout the area,” said Mayor Thompson.
